New Subject Added to the 2015 MBE (Multi-State Bar Exam)
If you need a reason to take the 2014 bar exam, here is one for you. In February 2015, the MBE will include a new subject. The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) announced that Civil Procedure will be added as a new subject to the MBE in February 2015. The Civil Procedure subsections that will be tested are (1) Jurisdiction and venue, (2) law applied by federal courts, (3) pre-trial procedures, (4) jury trials, (5) motions, (6) verdicts and judgments, and (7) appealabilty and review. Sample Civil Procedure questions are expected to be published in fall 2014. You can read more about the upcoming changes on the NCBE’s website.
While the additional MBE subject does not directly impact the 2014 MBE test-takers, it will certainly impact the 2015 test-takers, especially those who will be taking the 2015 Florida Bar Exam. In addition to the four new subjects added to the Florida Bar Exam (Negotiable Instruments, Secured Transactions, Dependency Law, and Juvenile Delinquency Law), the 2015 bar exam test-takers will also have to prepare for federal Civil Procedure. It seems that the bar exam is steadily becoming more difficult. So, as we said at the outset, if you need a reason to take the 2014 bar exam, there you go.
